Ran two, and survived to tell the tale. It was really exciting to share such an experience with others – such that, I completely ignored my time, the second time, as I bonded with my fellow runners. Shared misery – is there anything better? Okay, lots of things, but I have to rank completion of a marathon as a singular accomplishment.

    1. Thank you, Candice. My takeaway was the shared experience, as brutal as it was, talking to my fellow sufferers etc. I had watched marathons for years and cheered on the runners, none of whom I knew. I wanted to be a part of that – no regrets now that I have. The pain for a few weeks after, well, it was worth it. Might do one in 2020!
